Many enterprises have regional and global business commitments that require printing in Asian languages such as Chinese, Korean, Japanese or Thai. These require double-byte fonts and often, a multi-byte encoding scheme, which is not supported by most basic printing systems.
Their issue extends to printing double-byte fonts in IBM host and UNIX environments unless dot matrix printers are used.
